How to apply

Follow the online procedure.

The Master’s Degree in materials science is a free-access degree, but in order to enrol, you have to fulfil specific curricular requirements and have an adequate personal background. . Application is restricted to the students who own a Bachelor's degree (Laurea Triennale) obtained in Italy or abroad, in one of the following subjects: Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or Materials Engineering.

Foreign students are asked to apply online by following this procedure.

Deadline for the application :

  • Non-EU students and EU students: 22nd November 2023 to 31st January 2024.
  • EU students and non-EU applicants legally residing in Italy: from August 21st to September 4th 2024

After this procedure, the student will receive an official email from UNITO. Here the student will have to take part to written test on a moodle platform. All the students that applied and have been accepted will receive an email with all the information for the registration to the admission test. In the admission test questions based on the Syllabus (https://www.materials-science.unito.it/do/home.pl/View?doc=welcome_and_orientation.html) will be presented. 

Admission tests are periodically scheduled as communicated on this website. The selection committee will include at least 2 members of the teaching staff.

 A brief summary of the enrolment procedure is given below. 

  1. Registration onto the Unito.it portal: this stage will allow you to get the login information necessary to access the myUnito webpage which will take you to the online services required to apply to the Master. The registration form can be found here.
  2. Preliminary admission application: this must be done online at myUnito webpage. Connect to the page with the login information obtained in the previous step, then follow the Enrolments > Evaluation test link.  Once you have completed the procedure, you will be automatically registered for the admission interview. 
  3. Admission interview: you will be assessed on your academic knowledge, which should at least equal the basic requirements listed here. Admission interviews are periodically scheduled (see the calendar). Applicants can attempt the interview maximum twice a year.
  4. If, upon interview, admission is confirmed, you can complete your enrolment through the online procedure available at myUnito webpage (login, then follow the Enrolments > Matriculation link).
  5. All students who have obtained a degree mark of 94/110 or higher are exempt from the interview

All students, including those exempted from the interview, must register for the assessment test, to allow the commission to evaluate the qualification.

 All the enrolment steps must be completed within the deadlines listed.

The student has to register on the myUnito webpage at the «Evaluation test». There will not be any written test, this is a formal procedure to finalize the application . However, the student  will have to take part to an oral interview. During the interview the professors will evaluate the basics knowledges of the candidate.

All students who have obtained a degree mark of 94/110 or higher are exempt from the interview.
