Course delivery

  • dispositivi a semiconduttore: 3 CFU (lezioni frontali) + 1 CFU (laboratorio);

The course is organized in 7 credits (56 hours) of frontal lectures and 1 credits (10 hours) of laboratory activities.

The course is shared with the Solid State Physics course of the Master Degree in Material Science.

The course is organized in 2 parts:

  • semicoductor devices: 3 credits (frontal lectures) + 1 credit (laboratory);
  • dielectric properties of solids: 4 credits (frontal lectures).

The course is given in English language.

SANITARY EMERGENCY: In concurrence with the sanitary emergency, all lectures will be given online in synchronous mode, i.e. by following the planned timetable of the lectures during the teaching period. The recordings will be downloadable from the e-learning/moodle webpage of the course. The laboratory sessions in physical presence will be guaranteed, compatibly with the concurrent rules of access to the institute, particularly with regards to the maximum number of students allowed at the same time in the laboratories. Possible modifications to the laboratory sessions timetable will be evaluated by the teachers on the basis of the above-mentioned rules of access.

Learning assessment methods

The course evaluation is structured into 2 partial exams, relevant to the 2 parts of the course (semiconducting materials and devices, dielectric properties of solids).

Each partial exam consists in an oral exam in which the topics presented in the frontal lectures are discussed, as well as the laboratory reports (if relevant to the module).

The final mark for this exam results from a joint evaluation of the teachers, on the basis of the marks of the respective partial exams.

 SANITARY EMERGENCY: In concurrence with the sanitary emergency, the online exams will be organized with the above-described modalities, by adopting the Webex tele-conference platform. In particular, each evaluation commission will be composed by at least two teachers, and at least one student will participate as witness. Such procedures will be subject to possible variations, on the basis of future dispositions of the University of Torino and/or of the Physics Degree council.
