Course objectives

The aim of the course is to introduce the students to advanced mass spectrometric techniques for material characterization, also at the surface and interface level, and give an overview of the importance of material science for the development of analytical science through the description of advanced functional materials used in analytical chemistry.

Oggetto:

Results of learning outcomes

  • Ability to foresee, understand and choose the proper mass spectrometric techniques for inorganic and organic material characterization, at surface and bulk level, as well as for elemental and compositional analysis
  • Ability to formulate proper analytical protocols for the analysis of new and advanced materials
  • Knowledge of the principal classes of functional materials used in analytical chemistry and their applications in adsorption, partition, selective extraction and in sensors design
